For my own, I’m going to share a little more of my NaNoWriMo project, a rough draft of the fourth novel of Tales of the Navel: The Shadow Forest. (I’m hoping when I release the first book, Stealing Myself From Shadows, to be able to follow with the other books without making readers wait for too long.) Here’s a little more of My Tool, My Treasure…
Powerful. Commanding. Ready to catch him, no everyone when they fell.
Such a burden, to have to catch them all.
Leiwell peeked under his eyelashes at his master.
Dyvian raised his arms, white robes falling back to expose pale skin, lined with delicate lavender veins.
This line: “Such a burden, to have to catch them all.” I love it. Feels like there are many layers in those words.

Thank you! Leiwell, Dyvian, and Tales of the Navel: The Shadow Forest along with the whole Tarot inspired setting are forcing to take complicated to a whole new level of being, but it’s some of the most rewarding writing I’ve ever done.

I love the juxtaposition of the descriptions in the first and last paragraphs (assuming they’re describing the same person?).

They are. One of the difficult things about writing this series is describing identity and the role of identity, how it gets confused when bits of yourself are lost in the Shadow Forest, how you can draw aspects of other people to yourself, reliving them as part of your own…doing this in a way which which conveys the confusion without confusing the reader overmuch. It’s something I’m really struggling with in this story, yet I feel is so crucial to what I’m trying to convey. (wry grin) I’m glad you’re loving it…thank you for stopping by to say so!
