For my own, here’s a little more of Stealing Myself From Shadows, introducing Duessa Ashelocke…
A shadow began to glide towards me in a slither of rustle, taking the shape of a tall, stately woman. Something wrong with her upper body, something which writhed and moved.
Arms. She had six additional arms, waving in a graceful, shadowy dance like a spider’s limbs.
“Such beauty makes me want to devour it.” Her trailing skirts slid across the ground, distracting the eye from this dance.

Nice, but you can keep the Spider Lady!

The last person who tried to keep Duessa is now a statue in her garden. A scheming statue who speaks to people in their dreams, but still. 🙂

Thank you! Lovely but creepy sums up both Duessa and the Gardens of Arachne which bloomed in the ruins of the Tower. 🙂 Glad to hear I’m doing the arachnocracy justice! 🙂
