#QueerBlogWed: Paula’s Prompts

On May 12, 2021, P.T. Wyant posted at ptwyant.com a Wednesday Words prompt involving an alley cat, a world traveler, and indecision.

This poem was the result…

She’d seen the Seven Hidden Seas

The purple mountains of the wild people-eaters

The crimson courts ruled by bodies painted in blood

Was chosen by an alley cat to share a dungeon crawl

Sought the rainbow castle on the highest purple peak

Where everyone lives and loves as they wish

She’d seen so much yet reached the point of indecision

Where would she stop and rest her feet?

At a fountain where ideas kiss you in a cool mist?

In the shade in the purple mountains while people eaters themselves nap?

Perhaps she’d just find a cozy cottage where her alley cat could grow plump and sleek?

Wherever she went, it felt like someplace she’d seen before

The ghost of her former wonder haunting more of the same

How could she lay this ghost to rest?

She’d been following her own whim for so long

Walking wherever her whim would take her

The idea of sitting down was somehow unsettling

Maybe she should just keep walking, keep looking

Until she truly needed to rest.
