I’m back…regarding my Cauldron of Eternal Inspiration with teary eyes. I had a wonderful time, going off on vacation, but I have missed this place! I’ve also missed #RainbowSnippets, our wonderful Saturday group of GLBT posters. Each Saturday, everyone contributes six sentences of GLBT fiction. It can be your own, or someone else’s. The six sentences just need to be GLBT.
I’m sharing my current Camp NaNoWriMo project; an extended version of ‘On the Other Side of the Mask’. I submitted a shorter version of it to Lethe Press’s ‘Gents: Steamy Tales of Steam’ anthology. It was rejected, so I changed it and sent it again. I also talked to the anthologist about working on an extended version of it for Lethe Press’s general submissions. I said I’d work on that extended version during July’s Camp NaNoWriMo, so here it is….it’s slightly over six sentences, so forgive me. (bows)
“Besides, how do you truly know what we want?” Nathaniel countered. “You don’t even know what you want!”
“Shelley!” Byron’s lips shaped the name, breathing it out as a shout. “What I want is Shelley. He’s mine and I want him back!”
“Ah, but how can you want him, if he belongs to you?” Olympia asked slyly. “A boy wants what he doesn’t have.”

Thank you! My intense desire to pair them up, plus reading ‘Changeling the Lost’ inspired this strange idea of helpless waifs taking on their names in an attempt to take on some of their strength. 🙂

Nope. The real Byron and Shelley aren’t here either, as I explained in a snippet long ago, which I doubt anyone remembers. (sheepish grin) These two boys just took on the poets’ names, hoping to imbue some of their power. I think you can find that snippet in this Cauldron, if you fish around for it. As for the actual poets, Shelley adored Keats, but Byron didn’t. At all. Keats didn’t reciprocate Shelley’s affection.

The names Bryon and Shelley caught my attention straight off – I love the romantic poets. Intriguing snippet especially that last line.

Thank you! These two characters aren’t the actual romantic poets, but they deliberately chose their names in the hopes of channeling some of their spirit and embodying their dreams of freedom.

Thank you! (blushes) I hope it’ll do exactly as its title indicates; inspiring myself and others for as long as we last, who’ll inspire others in turn, creating an eternal flow of inspiration. Even if I don’t last, I’m hoping the stories I create will, even if they change and transform, depending on whom decides to retell them. You might say it’s my idea of eternity. 🙂

Thank you! This is all still very rough, since I’ve been working on a lot of this from scratch, plus I didn’t do a lot of premeditation about which snippet to choose for today (which I sometimes do :)) I’m really glad you’re enjoying it! 🙂
